Hung Out To Dry

Hung Out To Dry

Extra crispy. That is how I feel right now and that was my immediate reaction when I saw this bunch of leaves hanging on my neighbor's fence. I can think of no other summer in my life where I've been so busy.

Maybe I say this every year. Ok, I admit, I do. But, this one was really busy. All the major events converged in early July - a wedding, a deployment, a super important work deadline that had everyone in my office running around with their hair on fire.

And how did I respond to all this stress and overwhelm?  Oh, I decided to take up gardening, remodel my deck, and develop an obsessive interest in photography.

If all that weren't enough, it also seemed that just about everyone in my circle at work and in my family had some major stress or stresses befall them during this time as well - a worrisome medical diagnosis, family illness or personal crisis.

We've all been in this battle together, often times having to cover for each other or even carry our comrades on our backs a little while.

Most of us have lived to fight another day, but I'm ready for the slow down.

Maybe next month.
