Ninja Photographer

pine alley

My son routinely chastises me for my trespassing ways, afraid I'm going to get shot one of these days. I just can't seem to resist when I see the potential for a good shot.

I'm linking up with Lisa Gordon's "The Creative Exchange" with today's featured image. This is a tree line that I've spotted many times on the road between my house and my parents'. On Saturday morning, the fog and the light were just right to capture what I had been envisioning. To get the shot, I had to pull into the property owner's driveway. I left the car running, ran across their yard, snapped a few shots and hopped back in my car. I am a photographing ninja.

The image below was also taken from a driveway, but I never even got out of my car for this one. For years, I'd been spotting this rather garish and unique Halloween display on the way to church and wanted capture it. This year I boldly went where I'd not gone before and got the shot.

We don't want any trick-or-treaters

I have a busy day ahead, so I must be brief. Happy Halloween!

Monday Linkups

  1. I like your spirit. 'Ninja Photographer' sounds like what I want to be now. Your photograph of the trees at that perfect moment was well worth the risk, in my opinion. Some day, your son will have a dream that is worth taking a risk for. Great job!

  2. I love the tree lined path and I'm glad you stopped for a pic of the scary decor. Very cool photo!

  3. Your photos truly take my breath away...stunning! Have a lovely day~

  4. A girl after my own heart: venturing out for our art, braving danger :-)
Trespass is not a criminal offence over here, so I often indulge.Love that enticing treelined path and the light is just as it ought to be.

  5. Both photos are fantastic! Such a good thing you stopped for that second one! :-)

  6. Haha...I prefer "Ninja Photographer" to what MY kids call me....a STALKER! Great photos! WOW, I wonder where they store that Halloween stuff when it's not the right season!

  7. Beautiful photos. Like the first a lot!

  8. I am smiling as I read this! My kids do the same. Worried I am going to get tossed into jail or worse, but if you gotta get the shot, you gotta get the shot! Both of these are wonderful, and my goodness, would I love to be in that first one. Really, really beautiful!

Thank you so much for sharing these at The Creative Exchange.

Have a wonderful evening, and a Happy Halloween!

  9. HeHe! That last one is quite something isn't it? I adore that first one though, the light, composition, it's all so beautifully done :)

  10. I don't blame you for stealing a shot of that beautiful tree-lined corridor. But that huge decoration must be a permanent fixture on the house - where would you keep it the rest of the year?

  11. You know, I have no idea where they store that thing....It does come down though. Thanks for all the comments everyone. Hope you all had a great halloween!

  12. Your boldness paid off. Fabulous photos. v

  13. Good for you ninja shooter! Great capture and fun story!

  14. WOW. I adoreeeeeee that first shot!! It is perfect :)

  15. Both are very cool (why can't I think of a better word?).
That allée would be almost impossible to pass up.
    And the decoration?
Gotta take a photo of that, too.
