Shaping Up

Picture the Holidays Day 11 - Shaping Up

Thiry Days Of Thanks Picture The Holidays - Day 11

I believe that once you open yourself up to something, that something just keeps coming! Little shifts in how we look at the world around us can reveal a whole new world to us and our lenses. No matter how much I see it happen in my own life, it still delights me. I'm surprised daily at what I find.

Pay attention today, in your comings and goings to the shape of things. See if what you find reminds you of anything else. Nature works in mysterious ways like that, have you noticed?

Day eleven's theme was a stumper for me merely because I just don't have time to get out with my camera right a lot right now. Instead of getting further behind, I'm going with this shape which is not from nature, but represents something from the natural world. There is a little bit of a hidden element as the center of the snowflake is the shape of a flower.

Besides, these books we are making don't have a lot of text in them and on this page the only words will be "Shaping Up." I can think of no better shape to include in my book than one of these little handmade treasures that have graced my parents' tree for years. I'd like to do more of a study on them against a dark backdrop after Christmas is over. With the weather outside cooling down, I'm finding myself wanting to do more still life.

Like snowflakes, our Picture the Holidays projects are so unique. It has been so much fun to see how everyone has interpreted each theme, and what brilliant creative ideas have come forth.

For some reason I thought Lisa Gordon's Creative Exchange was on Christmas break, so I almost missed the link up. I'll be sharing my grandma's snowflake over there today.
