What a Deer

fawn

Today I'm linking up with The Creative Exchange with this shot of a fawn captured at Radnor Lake. The hiking trails are so popular among the locals that the deer are quite used to people. We literally nearly stumbled over this one, not noticing it stasnding there. We were so close I could have reached out and touched it with my hand.

There were actually three of them there, and they moved slightly away from us, but did not run off. I took a bunch of shots, but it was already beginninig to get dark and with the bad light and the underbrush capturing the attention of my autofocus, I didn't get as many shots as I would have liked.

That's all I have time for today. Hope everyone has a great Monday.

  1. It amazes me how comfortable deer can be in such close proximity to humans. I have about 6 deer who live in the wetlands bordering my property. They don't even BUDGE when my dogs are outside or when WE come outside.

  2. Wow...you must have been able to get so close! I haven't seen nearly the amount of deer we normally see, and the one opportunity I did have to get a shot of one, I missed it!

  4. Oh my goodness LeAnne, how ever did you get this???
We have so many deer here, but I have never been able to successfully photograph one which is unfortunate because they are my very favorite animals.
    This is really, really beautiful.

Thank you for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

    Have a great day!

  5. A great close up, especially with the light in his eye. Lovely colours in his coat that blend in beautifully with the colours on the ground.
