It's a New Day

We got him! The Shutter Sisters' word for the one word project this month is "Leap." I believe this image of my daughter-in-law leaping into my son's arms for the first time in seven months qualifies.

I also decided to use their reuniting moments as the context for my time capsule project over at Beyond Layers. Aren't they adorable?

Together again

Another optional part of the time capsule project was to create a video time capsule and everyone already knew that there would be a photo montage coming out of this. So, here it is...

It is a new day for our family. My baby boy and his bride can now begin their life together properly, and we can all breathe again.

While in Afghanistan, my son would sometimes have the opportunity behind the wire for internet access and would read my blog when he could. As a sign of how much has changed since he's been gone, he told me he was conciously trying to come up with something clever to say when we embraced for the first time knowing that I was going to write about it in my blog.

What he said was "I love you so much mamma." I'll take that over clever any day. And, yep...I wrote about it in my blog. :)

Today's Linkups

  1. This is beautiful! Thank God he got home safely leanne! I don't know how you have tolerated this year! So happy for you . Loved your leaping photo. Brought back my youth of Vietnam to me.

  2. You touched my heart this morning. I am so very happy for your entire family. Do you mind me asking what song you are using for the soundtrack...it is brilliant. I hope you don't mind if I share this with some friends of mine who have family members in the military serving overseas. They would be even more touched than I, since they are personally involved.

    God bless,

  3. Sure Kathy! Share away. :) The song is "New Day" by Corey Smith. I specifically wanted to choose a song by him because my son is such a fan and there's a story behind that. I posted about that here in case you are interested: http://www.photosbyleanne.net/2011/11/shortly-before-my-son-adams-deployment.html

Thanks Jeanne! It has been a tough time, but we made it. That's all that counts right now. :)
