Flower Art Friday for May 4, 2012

Welcome to Flower Art Friday for May 4, 2012.   We open the gallery at 8:00 a.m. CST on Thursdays and it stays open until Sunday evening right before midnight.

I'm so pleased with how many participated in the first FAF last week and can't wait to see what flowers we gather in our virtual bouquet this week.

My image for today began with a shot of my mom's roses. These usually bloom on Mother's day, but with the warm winter and early spring they are just about finished. After playing with it for a bit, I thought these flowers would be a great match for Bonnie's "Paris" texture for this week's PhotoArt Friday. The post mark and text were free photogshop brushes courtesy of French Kiss Collections and the Eiffel tower overlay was just a free image I downloaded off microsoft clipart online and pulled into Topaz Adjust to create the sketch effect.

Before we get to the party, I'd like to present to you the top images voted by readers as their favorites from last week. I intend to feature the top three each week, but there was a tie for number three we'll have four today.

The most votes went to Anki-itte who blogs over here http://ankiskonst.blogspot.se/2012/04/watercolor-edition.html

The next three were tied with the same number of votes.

Just a quick reminder of the rules before we begin.

Flower Art Friday is a weekly gallery featuring your floral themed creations. We will have themes from time to time, but these will only be suggestions and you may feel free to deviate if you like. Obviously the theme revolves around flowers, and works submitted can be photos, digitally manipulated photos, textured photos, or mixed media collages.

Check out my resources page for information on some great sites that provide free textures, clip art, and tutorials.

The rules are pretty simple. Your link should go directly to your blog post or flickr post, and I ask that you post a link back to my blog in return. Post only your original work, and give credit appropriately to the source of images, clip art, or textures you may use in your piece. It would be awesome if you would grab my badge and include it in your post.

You also get to vote for your favorites. I will feature the top three picks on my blog next week, so if you participate please note that you are also giving me permission to repost your photo here.

    1. Actually, I did link through your badge, but I usually also link up directly to PAF in the context of the post, but I got this up before you made your post. I fixed that and now there's another link in context. Thanks for the texture and inspiration!

    2. Sorry, I wasn't referring to your using the button. I appreciate that you always post my button. I was just being silly and wondering about the third paragraph links in your post. Of course, 'being silly' doesn't come across in type! Best just to ignore my quips! :)

    1. I'm not sure what the problem is. I checked the parameters and all looks good. The interface only allows one vote per unique IP, so maybe you accidentally voted without intending to do so. Sorry!
